Steve had more than 25 years in the property industry before joining Opie & Gough, specialist recruitment consultants in 2005.

He commenced his career with the Lend Lease Group in 1980 initially employed at Head Office in Sydney and then spent time with the group in New Zealand and Melbourne. Over the eight years with the company Steve undertook a number of varied roles within the development, construction, and head office functions.

Following this time with the Lend Lease Group, Steve then spent nearly 10 years with international real estate consultants Colliers International and Knight Frank. During this period he was involved in the agency, asset management and advisory divisions of these businesses, and was involved in some notable property developments and transactions.

A further five years was then spent with National Asset Management, a division of National Australia Bank, where Steve was Head of Property, and managed a substantial number of unlisted property funds on behalf of the bank and third party clients.

A stint of two years followed at Deloitte in Corporate Finance, where Steve was involved in property advisory to a number of Deloitte and other clients, both locally and internationally based.

In 2005 Steve joined Opie & Gough bringing his extensive prior experience in the property industry to recruitment, and has since been involved in HR consulting and recruitment from graduate through to Chief Executive levels.

In addition to his role as a Recruitment Consultant, Steve participates voluntarily in the Career Mentoring Program at University of Melbourne for property and construction students, whom he guides during their course, and provides a link between the academic and practical world of the property industry.

Steve brings to Boyden a thorough understanding of the property industry across development, asset management, transaction, funds management, corporate real estate and advisory, within the government and non-government sectors, and at all levels. Steve trained as an accountant in South Africa, holds a CPA (SA), and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Management (MAIM).
