John Irwin is an Executive Director in Boyden’s Sydney office who specializes in Australia’s three tiers of government and the not-for-profit sectors. With more than 15 years search experience and 20 years as a senior executive in private and public organizations, John brings a wide range of skills to his role in the capacity of a trusted advisor and confidante. While John’s main focus is on CEO, Director and General Management positions, he is often engaged on politically sensitive assignments or roles that support social order and policy. His depth of understanding and discretion in this area is of patent value to clients and candidates alike.

Indicative assignments include sourcing the full senior management team for a State Government agency, following its very public restructures through to a search for a health professional, to implement the nation’s first prevention program for drug dependent criminal recidivism.

Immediately prior to joining Boyden, John held the positions of Senior Principal and General Manager-Government with one of Australia’s leading Human Capital consulting firms, working on search and interim management assignments.

His private and public sector background varies from the UK Insurance sector to general management roles of a major Building Society/Bank, an investigative role with the NSW Justice Department, a National Credit Bureau and New South Wales’ highest profile gaming corporation with turnover responsibility of $A3.5 billion. The combined understanding of commercial and private sector drivers and significant search know-how are the grounds for his clients repeat custom.

On a voluntary basis, he advises professional sports people on their after sport career options, he is a noted speaker on a diverse range of topics and is sponsor of the text “Independent Contracting in Australia” Pearson Press2000
