Doug Weir is a Managing Director in Boyden’s Toronto office. He helps his clients create high performance Information Technology organizations through the recruitment of exceptional IT leadership talent.

Doug has over 40 years of information technology experience, approximately 25 of which have been in executive search. He is known as Canada’s “CIO recruiter” and has a reputation for an exceptional network of CIO level connections in Fortune 1000 companies throughout North America. His in-depth knowledge of the IT function and its critical role in enabling business objectives means he brings unusual value to both candidates and clients.

Doug has recruited IT leaders in almost every industry sector, but has a particular focus on Financial Services, Manufacturing, Healthcare, and Government. He has also worked extensively with IT Service and Consulting organizations, recruiting Partner and Vice President level candidates for roles that have heavy IT content. He has a particular interest and capability in the identification, assessment, and recruitment of IT leaders that are capable of leading business change.

Doug is also the President of The Weir Group Inc., and previously operated his own practice under this name for 20 years. Weir’s executive search practice merged with Boyden global executive search in 2007, giving him an organization and resources capable of supporting an increasingly global practice. Previous recruitment experience included seven years as a Partner with Management Dimensions Limited, an executive search firm in Toronto, and two years with Electronic Systems Personnel in Montreal.

Prior to acquiring his recruitment experience, Doug managed the Montreal branch of Quantum Information Resources, leading the sale and delivery of software such as the first version of SABRE Accounting for American Airlines. His career started in Montreal with IBM Canada, and included work with Litton Industries and Triangle Data Systems.

Doug received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of Waterloo. He has been active in associations such as CATA, the York Technology Association, and served as President of his residential neighborhood association for two years. He is a member of the Ontario Board of Directors for the Information Technology Association of Canada.
