Luís Alves Monteiro has been a Partner in the Boyden Lisbon office since 2006. He has a Engineering University Degree and a Post Graduate degree in Economics and Banking.

Until August 2005 he was a Board of Directors Executive Member for the largest Portuguese banking group. He was responsible for credit and lending operations for companies and institutions. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Investment Bank and Chairman of the Leasing and Factoring company of the same group.

He held several governmental posts among which that of Secretary of State for Industry from 1989 to 1995 and General Manager for Industry from 1988 to 1989. He has been since 1976 Board Member, Executive Director and Member of the Supervisory Board of several companies and banking groups. He has also been a consultant for UNIDO, Professor and Member of the Pedagogic and Scientific Committee of the Executive Board of Instituto Superior de Engenharia of Lisbon and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the largest hospital in Portugal.

He was a Board Member of the Portuguese Association of Banks (APB) and was formerly a Member of the Board of the Confederation of Portuguese Industry (CIP) and is presently a Member of the Advisory Council of the Portuguese Catholic University (Engineering Department) and since August 2005 is a strategic adviser for companies.
