Tom Zay, Jr. has built a practice among a diverse group of industries, with a concentration in consumer goods and services companies and energy and industrial service and manufacturing businesses. Marketing, corporate finance and general management are prominent among his search engagements. Establishing marketing as a function in companies for which marketing is not a core competency is a specialty area of expertise for him.

Mr. Zay has been published in Electrical World Magazine and has spoken on the topic of establishing “marketing” in deregulating industries. He also helped lead Boyden’s work with The Coca-Cola Company under Chief Marketing Officer Sergio Zyman, in the company’s effort to rebuild its worldwide marketing function. That work resulted in the placement of more than 30 marketing executives and general managers worldwide.

Mr. Zay began his career in executive search in 1985 with Zay & Company in Atlanta and its successor firm, Boyden/Zay & Company. In 1994, he returned to Texas, where he started his career and had lived as a child, to establish Boyden’s Houston office. Prior to executive search, his career was in corporate banking with Continental Illinois Bank and corporate financial positions with a multi-billion dollar interstate pipeline company.

Mr. Zay has a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance.
