Born in Rome of a U.S. diplomat father and a Venezuelan mother, he graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a Bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering, and obtained his MBA from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce. He revalidated his engineering degree at the Universidad Central de Venezuela.

Worked 12 years for Creole Petroleum (Exxon Corp.) and Creole Investment. For 15 years he managed several consumer product companies, mainly in the food area, including Frica (CORIMON Group) and Alimentos Campoamor. Joined Maxecon S.C. in 1985, which became affiliated with Boyden in 1996.

Founding Director and, for eight years, Vice President of the Food Industry Association (Cavidea), and permanent member of its Advisory Committee. Former Treasurer and Member of the Executive Committee of VenAmCham and former Chairman of its Finance Committee. President of the Centro Venezolano Americano (bi-national center). Has taught Engineering part-time at the Universidad Central de Venezuela for 35 years. Awarded the Orden Francisco de Miranda and Orden al Mérito en el Trabajo (both First Class).

Married to Lolita Sánchez de Conkright with four grown children and a stepdaughter.
