John has wide and varied experience in both the corporate and business worlds spanning the Asia Pacific Rim, focusing mainly on the consumer sector. Trained in sales early in his career, John moved to Hong Kong in 1988 and joined American Express as Manager of Travelers Cheques and was later promoted to Director of Sales in Card Acceptance.

In 1993, John joined G2000 Hong Kong (an apparel retail chain) as Retail Controller and became the master franchisee of G2000 in Malaysia.  As owner and operator of the company, he rebuilt the business and six years later sold the operations back to the principal.  He moved to San Diego, U.S.A., and ventured into the bakery business until 2001.  He then moved to Shanghai, where he started two restaurants.

John has been Managing Director with Boyden China since 2005, specializing in consumer, industrial and professional services searches at top executive levels.

An avid golfer and playing to a handicap of eight, John was Captain of the Malaysian Golf Team in Shanghai in 2004 and is still an active member of the committee.

A Singapore born Malaysian Chinese, John gained a Bachelors of Art, Philosophy, Kent State University, Ohio, U.S.A. (1985).  John has studied and worked in Malaysia, United States, Hong Kong and China. He is fluent in English, Putonghua and Cantonese.
