The Australasian Institute of Mining & Metallurgy (AusIMM) has announced that Boyden global executive search has been retained to assist in the selection of a new Chief Executive Officer. The new CEO will succeed Don Larkin, who has advised the board he will not be renewing his contract at the end of 2007. The search will be led by Bruce Abbott and Michael Catlow, Directors of Boyden’s Melbourne office.

Mr. Larkin has served as CEO since 1999. AusIMM, which supports more than 8,000 members, is the pre-eminent body representing professionals in the Minerals Sector, including geologists, mining engineers, metallurgists and other professionals.

“The AusIMM has become an industry powerhouse thanks to the tremendous stewardship of Don Larkin,” said Mr. Abbott. “AusIMM’s new leader will have a great opportunity to represent top mining professionals and continue to expand its partnerships and advocate for the organisation worldwide.”

Mr. Abbott brings more than 30 years experience in the mining and metallurgy sectors including executing hundreds of successful executive searches at the board, CEO and senior management levels. His practice includes a significant portion of global searches in Asia/Pacific, the Americas and Europe.
