The interview with Mr. Neupaver includes his views on the importance of maintaining a technology edge, the real definition of lean principles, the company’s push into China and who makes the best mentor.
“Al’s steady record of sustained growth is unique for any company, though it’s especially impressive in today’s fiercely competitive global market,” said Trina Gordon, President and CEO of Boyden World Corporation.
“Al’s direct leadership style shows that lean management has a very important place in the corporate arena,” said Thomas Flannery, Leader of Boyden's Board Services Practice in North America and Managing Director at Boyden Pittsburgh. “Wabtec’s selection of Al is a great example of picking the right CEO at the right time in the company’s history.”
Mr. Neupaver joined Wabtec Corporation in 2006 as President and CEO, and member of the company’s Board of Directors. Under his leadership, Wabtec has more than doubled its operating profit and net income, and its stock price has continued to increase each year, making it the only NYSE-listed company whose year-end stock price has increased for 10 consecutive years. Prior to joining Wabtec, Neupaver spent nine years as President of the Electromechanical Group of AMETEK, Inc. Earlier Neupaver spent 11 years with Pfizer, Inc. and he began his career as an officer on nuclear submarines in the U.S. Navy.
