SANTIAGO – Boyden, a global leader in executive search with more than 70 offices in 40 countries, announced today the firm has been selected as a premier provider of search services for Chile’s System for High Level Director Civil Service, which reports to the President. Boyden is one of several firms selected for three year terms beginning this month.

High Level Civil Service includes undersecretaries, heads of government companies and key government organizations such as health care and hospitals. Only Ministers are selected by the President. Boyden, like all other service providers, will be evaluated after every three searches. Service providers will be ranked, and those who perform will receive additional assignments.

“The benefits of the System are clear; among other things, it has enabled the renewal of different boards within the State,” said Rossana Pérez, Director of the Civil Service and Chairman of the High Public Administration Council. “Sixty-five percent of those selected did not formerly hold that same position. Thirty-two percent of those selected are women, a much higher rate than in the private sector, where according to different studies, women’s involvement in managerial positions is around 15%. Likewise, 16% of those selected come from the private sector.”

“Boyden’s appointment by Chile’s Civil Service Director is a great honor,” said John Byrne, Managing Director of Boyden Chile. “The competitive process to select search firms and then our work to place the most qualified candidates is the best system to ensure excellence.”

Since its inception in 2004, 512 of the 837 positions in Chile’s Civil Service System have been chosen after a selection process that includes executive search, or are currently undergoing that process.

Earlier this year, Boyden released the groundbreaking The Boyden Report – Multi-Latinas Drive Destiny. The report explores how Latin America’s historic challenges have benefited the region by building an executive population with an impressive set of skills highly valued by both local and multinational companies. The report is based on interviews with senior executives of Latin American and multinational subsidiary organizations.
