Jeddah is the second largest city in Saudi Arabia, is located on the coast of the Red Sea and is the major urban center of western Saudi Arabia. The population of the Jeddah currently stands at over 3.4 million and the city is considered the second commercial capital of Saudi Arabia.
Jeddah is the principal gateway to Mecca, Islam’s holiest city, which able-bodied Muslims are required to visit at least once in their lifetime. With thousands of years of trading in its history, it is natural that Jeddah is the second largest commercial hub. In recent years huge real estate developments have been launched to the outskirts of the city.
Life in Jeddah is different from many cities in Saudi Arabia. The city has a more relaxed cosmopolitan feel as well as holding many of the country’s best preserved historical buildings.
