Experience: A track record of success in building community through either paid or unpaid work. Demonstrated experience advocating for social change. A mature and experienced leader and manager who brings knowledge and experience with governance best practices, financial and operational best practices.

Leadership Style: A respectful, positive, compassionate, inclusive, and engaging leadership style. Highly effective team leader and team member, with the demonstrated ability to build and work in a collegial and collaborative environment. Keeps the organization focused in support of evolving community needs.

Management Acumen: Able to lead and effectively oversee a broad range of programmatic, financial, human resources and other functions associated with the Foundation. Demonstrated capacity to set goals, delegate effectively, problem-solve and hold others accountable for their performance.

Openness to supporting a high-performance team in a flexible environment.

Relationship Builder: Approachable, engaging, and sincere. Has a track record of successfully building and maintaining highly productive relationships with a broad range of people, including partners, the not-for-profit community, staff and Board, government officials, and members of the community at large. Sees opportunities to engage community partners in better understanding the needs of all parts of the community.

Intercultural Understanding and Diversity Champion: A deep understanding of and commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) and a demonstrated track record of supporting and advancing JEDI principles and objectives on behalf of an organization and in the community.

Style: Inspires and empowers people to look for opportunities to enhance the organization's ability to deliver on its mission. Possesses the presence, confidence, maturity, political savvy, diplomacy, and passion for generating respect and inspiring confidence among donors, the corporate community, governments, the Board, staff, community agencies, and other key stakeholders.

Communication Skills: Compelling, articulate, and highly effective listening skills. Capable of delivering an appropriate message to any audience in any setting. Can read an audience and adjust style accordingly. Effective at communicating to the public through various forms of media and public events. Capable of enhancing the general profile of the Foundation and in reaching community and donors through evolving channels such as social media.

Fundraising: Has the capacity for, experience with, and an interest in fundraising. Has the required skill to attract philanthropic, business, and other partnership funds by building strong external linkages. Is committed to, and enthusiastic about fundraising on behalf of the Foundation.

Board of Directors: An understanding of board governance through active participation on Boards, or more ideally, having reported to a Board. Understands what it is to be effective in supporting a board in fulfilling its governance responsibilities.
