The University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Engineering is renowned for providing its graduates with top quality education in engineering and computer science, preparing them to practice their professions competently to meet the ever-changing needs of society. The school is co-educational and enrolls over 35,000 undergraduate and over 6,000 post-graduate students each year. The school also has approximately 7,000 international students from 150 countries, accounting for 17 per cent of the student population.
On Feb 28, the Faculty of Engineering will be hosting its popular emerging trends series for international students, known as the Hojjat Salemi International Students Workshop. Sponsored by RBC, this is the 7th session of the workshop series by the University of Ottawa's Centre for Entrepreneurship and Engineering Design (CEED). This interactive session will feature industry panelists discussing some of the emerging technology trends and skills needed to launch careers in the tech space.

- Joe Cummins, Chief Technology Officer, CYBERNETIQ
- Veronica Farmer, Director, Partnerships & Commercialization, University of Ottawa
- Bernard Herscovic, Founder and CEO, ConnectUs Technologies
The goals of these professional workshops are:
- Provide mentorship and peer support to newly arrived international students.
- Help international students develop skills that are important to the Canadian job market (through professional skills development workshops).
- Help integrate international students into University of Ottawa network that includes alumni and community/industry ecosystems.
- Mobilize resources and services to help international students integrate in the wider university setting, and lager Ottawa society.
- Provide international students with a certification/proof of attendance which might lend credibility and assist in their search for jobs, volunteer positions, scholarships, or awards.
