Boyden, a long time partner of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, joins as the event Supporting Sponsor.

Date: 10 December 2020

As Canada and the Lower Mainland grapple with the on-going health and economic challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Port of Vancouver is proving a powerful and resilient economic force, locally and nationally. Throughout the pandemic, the port system has remained open and Canada's trade has continued to flow, connecting Canadians and Canadian businesses to essential goods and international markets.

At the same time, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, the federal agency that oversees the port, has continued to lead an ambitious infrastructure program to enhance trade capacity across the Lower Mainland and mitigate trade-related challenges such as emissions and traffic congestion in local communities. In 2020, the port authority, with partners, has had more than $1 billion dollars' worth of infrastructure projects underway across the region. Right now, these projects are an important part of this region's recovery, supporting jobs, local companies, and the regional economy through project spending. Post-pandemic, these projects will further strengthen the Vancouver gateway's competitiveness as a West Coast trade hub—with direct benefits for the Lower Mainland and for Canada.

Join Robin Silvester, Port Authority President and Chief Executive Officer, for his 12th annual "State of the Port" address to the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade. Robin will talk about how, amidst the turbulence of 2020, port industries have proved a cornerstone of the economy, locally and nationally—and about opportunities to build on that strength.

Boyden, a long-time partner of GVOBT, is a proud supporting sponsor of the virtual event.
