TORONTO, ONTARIO February 13, 2018 The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario is pleased to announce that following an extensive search, Dr. Nancy Whitmore has been selected as the College’s next Registrar/CEO. Dr. Whitmore is a recognized health care leader who is widely respected for her management expertise, integrity and clinical abilities.
Dr. Whitmore is currently President and CEO of St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. Over her career she has served in a number of successive leadership positions including Vice President and Chief of Staff at the hospital and as a manager and clinician in a variety of settings.
Dr. Whitmore received her medical degree from the University of Manitoba and subsequently completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Western University. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and also a graduate of the MBA program at the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University.
Dr. Whitmore will join the College as Registrar/CEO June 4. Mr. Dan Faulkner, the Deputy Registrar will step into the role of Registrar on an interim basis for several months when Dr. Rocco Gerace completes 16 years as Registrar at the end of February.

“I also want to recognize Dr. Rocco Gerace who has led the College through a period of extraordinary change over the past 16 years. We will continue to be well served in the coming months with Mr. Dan Faulkner’s capable leadership as Interim Registrar.
