Doug’s recruits throughout the United States with a focus on the Consumer Goods (CPG/Retail) and Industrial sectors, including oilfield and industrial services, chemicals, and food ingredients and additives. Within Consumer Goods, he has recruited not only for mainstream food & beverage, durables and health & beauty products, but also emerging and established companies within the natural & organic space.
A member of Boyden’s Consumer & Retail and Industrial Practice Groups, Doug takes the lead in helping clients recruit the right leader for C-level, VP, Director and other mission-critical roles in a range of disciplines, including general management, sales, marketing, business development and operations (manufacturing, supply chain and logistics). He works with Fortune 500 companies as well as mid-sized and smaller companies, and has completed search assignments for publicly held, private equity, private and founder-led companies including startup and early stage clients. Doug frequently works with international businesses establishing operations in the US.
For over two and a half decades, Doug has built a highly regarded reputation for professionalism and insight. He personally leads each of his searches with a hands-on approach, resulting in search delivery and completion well above the industry standard. He builds long-term relationships and loyalties that make him a valuable colleague, mentor and partner. His strengths include broad-based industry experience and knowledge, fresh contacts and perspectives, and sensitivity to the needs of both clients and candidates.
Prior to entering the executive search profession, Doug spent more than 25 years in B2B and B2C general management, sales & marketing and operations at Procter & Gamble, PepsiCo (Taco Bell) and smaller, commodity-oriented businesses. During his 14 years with Procter & Gamble, he took on increasing levels of responsibility in soap and detergents, health and beauty aids, and food & beverage. Doug also spent 10 years in agribusiness, working at several smaller companies, and as a consultant in industrial food ingredients.
Doug holds a BA from the University of Arizona. He has served on several alumni and fundraising boards, and on the local Board of Directors for Child Advocates. He is also an active member of MENG (Marketing Executives Network Group), one of the country’s largest sales and marketing groups. He is a frequent blogger and contributor to the group’s articles and publications, and has served as a subject matter expert to media outlets including Bloomberg, BrandWeek, Milling & Baking, and NPR.
