Michael Rose, former Chief Executive Partner of legal firm Allens, current Chair The Committee for Sydney and Non-Executive Director, drops into the Pod to talk about starting his career as a lawyer, the key to making difficult decisions, and how organisations need to adapt to constant change.

Over a 30 year career at law firm Allens, Rose ascended to the role of Chief Executive Partner and became recognised as one of Australia’s leading litigators and dispute resolution lawyers. In 2015, Michael transitioned to a portfolio career, with his influence reaching a range of organisations.

Naturally, balancing these roles takes a significant amount of time and commitment, and Rose provides us with a great insight into how he divides his time between responsibilities, and the importance of crossover between his positions. Rose also speaks about his 30-year tenure at Allens (a rarity in today’s fast-moving market), the leadership challenges that he’s faced, and how the best piece of advice he’s ever been given helped him to keep the bigger picture in mind.
