Boyden is pleased to share the appointment news of Constance Scarlett, a recruitment led by Craig Hemer

Edmonton, AB – Apr 03, 2023

The Board of Directors of the Edmonton Space & Science Foundation is excited to announce that Constance Scarlett will be appointed President and CEO of TELUS World of Science – Edmonton, effective July 1, 2023.

Constance brings a wealth of executive leadership experience in Edmonton and Northern Alberta. Constance’s leadership shines through in non-profit management and government and community relations. She also brings an exceptional fundraising record. Her vision for TELUS World of Science – Edmonton includes amplifying the new experiences created through the Science Centre’s recent iconic renovation and expansion project, while promoting equity of access and cultivating lifelong relationships with the community. It is an exciting time for the Science Centre and as the next President and CEO, Constance will lead the organization into the future.

Constance’s most recent role was as Director, Government & Community Relations with TELUS World of Science – Edmonton. She was instrumental in securing over $41 million in capital funding for the Science Centre’s recent expansion, and a key leader in driving Science Centre accessibility policies for both Indigenous Peoples and other groups.

“Constance is an experienced strategic leader and community builder. She has a solid track record of making an impact in organizations with complex operating environments and strengthening key relationships with government and stakeholders,” said Frank Mannarino, Chair, Board of Directors, the Edmonton Space & Science Foundation. “We are confident her vision, expertise, and energy will foster a new era of innovation, partnerships, and outreach for the Science Centre.”

“I am honoured and humbled to be chosen as the next President and CEO of TELUS World of Science – Edmonton,” says Scarlett. “Edmonton’s Science Centre has a special place not just in my heart but in the hearts of all Albertans and I am excited to lead this organization on the next stage of its journey.”

Mannarino adds, “We conducted a thorough, inclusive and expansive search of potential internal and external candidates and selected an exceptional leader. We look forward to Constance’s collaborative and creative leadership style as she builds on the organization’s reputation as a leader in the science conversation in Canada.”

“The Board would also like to take this opportunity to thank the outstanding contributions of the Science Centre’s retiring President and CEO, Alan Nursall” says Mannarino. “Throughout his tenure, Alan has been a visionary leader. He oversaw the development and implementation of the largest expansion in the Science’s Centre’s history – the Aurora Project. During the pandemic shutdowns, he deftly managed and pivoted the organization with fortitude. Over the last ten years, Alan brought to life many new galleries and exhibitions, many of which were part of the Aurora Project. The Board thanks him for his 10 years leading the organization and wishes him all the best as he heads into retirement. He leaves a lasting legacy and foundation for our new President and CEO to move into an innovative future of science experience in Edmonton, Alberta, and beyond.”
