After a two-year commission in the British army in Libya, Brian Renwick began a career in Personnel Management in 1961 by undertaking one of the very first full-time post-graduate programs in human resource management. His career therefore spans almost the entire history of modern day HR management.

Brian served for twelve years in various human resource positions at two major UK corporations. In 1975, he joined Aluminium Bahrain in the Arabian Gulf, and then moved to Hong Kong in early 1981, to take up the post of Director of Personnel Services at the Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club. He handed over his post to a local successor in 1986 and joined HSBC as Head of Personnel where he again handed over to a local person on retirement. In June 1995, he started the human resources consulting company Renwick McCormick Maule & Tam. In September 1998, Aon Consulting Worldwide acquired the company to spearhead its strategic development of HR consulting in the region. Brian was Regional Director of Aon Consulting Asia until he left for personal reasons at the end of 1999. He is now a partner in the new Boyden presence in Hong Kong and China and Managing Director of Boyden China Limited, the executive search arm of the organisation.

Brian has thus served in six major public organisations in four countries. He has also spent considerable time in the Philippines working with one of Asia’s largest development projects. He is particularly interested in improving communications within organisations, and in how to link people strategies with business objectives. He has had extensive top level recruitment and consulting experience both as practitioner and consultant.

Brian is active in the Hong Kong community and has either chaired or sat on a number of educational and advisory bodies. He was Chairman of the Careers Advisory Board of Hong Kong University and was a member of the Standing Committee on Disciplined Services Salaries and Conditions of Service. He is a Council Member of The Employers' Federation of Hong Kong, and a Member of the Housing Society.

Brian's interests include sailing, walking, history, classic cars and using computers. He is married with four children and six grandchildren. Brian is fluent in English and in French.
