The Client

Our client is one of the Germany`s largest IT providers with excellent growth prospects. The company specializes in optimizing core business processes through consulting and software development for numerous clients across Europe and Asia. The company's particular strength is the combination of business, technology and digitalization.

The Challenge

As a thriving, growing business, our client was faced with a very competitive landscape in this business in Spain following the acquisition of a local IT service provider and was looking for a strong Managing Director to steer the company in the right direction and reposition the business in the region.

Boyden was tasked with finding a seasoned Managing Director with a proven track record in company reorganizations and success within technology, an influencing leader with networking in Spain, and capable of developing positive relationships to foster growth both internally and externally.

Ideally, the client was looking for someone who had already learned best practices in large, market-leading IT service providers, had held a "big" management role with entrepreneurial responsibility, and was now willing to enter a growth case in which would also require a lot of entrepreneurial hands-on work.

The Solution

Based on an already existing and trusting partnership with the Group's Management Board, a search process was carried out that was characterized by the achievement of specific and challenging requirements for the ideal candidate, which would be decisive for the company's realignment in Spain.

The most important steps included defining a precise job description, creating a requirements profile, drawing up a comprehensive target company list, and thus jointly defining the search strategy, which was specifically geared towards large IT services companies. Boyden succeeded in identifying the right top candidates with a proven track record and, above all, in motivating them, as most of them would initially have significantly less management and sales responsibility as a result.

We put together a very strong local team under the leadership of our international key account manager for the client, who managed this project on-site in Spain and at the interface with the Group Management Board and the client's central HR units in Germany. The international Boyden team comprising of the Spanish and German partners, evaluated the candidates in a multi-stage interview and referencing process.

The Results

Our efforts yielded successful outcomes. We managed to attract a compelling shortlist of candidates with the desired experience background for the client.

Following an extensive search, three candidates were shortlisted, all of whom had a proven track record of leading and delivering transformative growth initiatives and the desired entrepreneurial, agile mindset. The Boyden team's ability to understand the client's needs in-detail provided the best possible match of requirements with the shortlisted candidates. The project was successfully completed within a short timeframe and to the particular satisfaction of both the client and the candidates approached.
