After an extensive search led by its board of Directors, United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo is thrilled to announce that Cathy Steeves has accepted the position of Executive Director to begin February 1st, 2021. 

"The board is very excited to welcome Cathy to the United Way team," said Jordanna Lambert, Board President. "Cathy brings a wealth of knowledge from both her professional experience and volunteer achievements. We are confident that United Way will be well positioned under her leadership to prosper in the coming years." 

Steeves is a long term resident of Fort McMurray and a champion of United Way, with volunteer positions as both as a Workplace Campaign Chair and Community Investment Committee team member. Steeves will leverage her collaborative leadership approach and affinity for creating a strong social profit sector to maximize United Way's overall impact in Wood Buffalo.

"I'm thankful to the board for their confidence in me, and am elated to lead such a wonderful organization," said Steeves. "United Way continues to respond to changing demands in our community and I know that we can move forward to strengthen our support of programs and initiatives that improve the quality of life for seniors, youth, children, families and disadvantaged citizens."
