The Board of Directors is responsible for the overall governance of the organization - its members set the organization’s strategic priorities and ensure they’re met; they provide ongoing oversight of the quality of care provided; and ensure financial resources are managed appropriately.
CHEO's Board consists of 19 Directors – 13 members recruited from the broader community; 1 representative from the University of Ottawa; the Chair of the Board of the School Authority; and 4 ex-officio members. Approximately 20% of CHEO’s Board Directors are Francophones (speak French as their mother tongue).
To learn more about the Board of Directors, visit CHEO’s Board Directors page.
Candidates must be available to attend 6-7 Board meetings per year, in addition to serving on at least one Board committee which also meets 6-7 times per year. Members must also be able to dedicate several hours a month to read required documentation and attend other functions, as needed. They should be willing to represent CHEO in the community and with decision makers, in order to help achieve the organization’s long-term goals. Mandates are for three years, renewable twice.
