The Canadian University Council of Chief Information Officers (CUCCIO) is Canada’s community of information technology leaders in higher education, working together to help Canadian universities excel through the innovative and effective use of IT.  CUCCIO was incorporated in 2006 to bring a national approach to the 40+ years of information-sharing, collaboration, knowledge creation and advocacy between and among the provincial and regional associations of IT leaders in higher education.

Today, CUCCIO is a non-profit, member-funded federally regulated corporation with 75 member universities Canada-wide, which collectively serve over 95% of Canada’s university students.

CUCCIO is currently seeking an Executive Director, who is the senior leader of CUCCIO accountable to the Board of Directors for ensuring the overall direction and management of the organization meets the needs of its member CIOs and their institutions.  Key responsibilities include bringing a collective voice of the university CIOs to current issues and emerging trends in the sector, ensuring the continued and effective exchange of information and best practices within the broader university IT community, and facilitating the partnerships needed to assist members in addressing their common and shared challenges.

The Executive Director ensures that the organization is positioned to meet the needs of its members, by providing clear strategic direction, proactively responding to key issues and ensuring the efficient and professional operation of the organization.

The ideal candidate brings a demonstrated track record of providing strategic, executive-level direction to an organization with multiple internal and external stakeholders  This experience may have been gained from a senior technology position, as a leader of an organization working within, in support of the post-secondary sector, or as the leader of a member-based organization. Knowledge of governance best practices, organizational management and financial management will be seen as assets, as well as proficiency in French. Leading a very small, remote team, the Executive Director can establish their office or home office in the Canadian market of their choice.
