Boyden is pleased to share the appointment news of Marisa Vaglica, a recruitment co-led by Pamela Colquhoun and Jim Stonehouse

Guelph, ON - Feb 24, 2026

Announcement by Mark Walton, President & CEO, Guelph General Hospital:

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Marisa Vaglica as Vice President, Patient Services & Chief Nursing Executive at Guelph General Hospital, effective April 7, 2026.

While we look forward to welcoming Marisa, this announcement also marks a heartfelt goodbye to Susan Leach, who has served in this role on an interim basis since November. To support continuity and a seamless leadership transition, Susan will remain with us through Marisa’s first day.

The past several months has given us valuable time to reflect on our needs, not only within our senior leadership team but across the Patient Services portfolio. During this period of change, many new leaders joined our organization or took on new ways of supporting our hospital. I am deeply appreciative of how you have managed these transitions while continuing to prioritize compassionate care for our patients, families, and each other.

Marisa joins us from North York General Hospital, bringing extensive experience as a registered nurse and senior health care leader. She has held multiple director-level roles across nursing, allied health, emergency and critical care, maternal-child programs, quality, patient safety, and organizational education, and has a strong record in clinical governance, innovative care models, and quality and risk management. She holds a Master of Nursing, is completing a Doctor of Nursing (Leadership), and is a Certified Health Executive with advanced leadership and governance expertise.

In her role, Marisa will oversee the full Patient Services portfolio, driving collaborative leadership, system innovation, and quality improvement. She will support the Clinical Services Plan, contribute to our Health Information System transformation, and strengthen regional partnerships across Guelph-Wellington.

Please join me in welcoming Marisa to the GGH team and thanking Susan for the support she has provided our hospital over the last few months.
