Guelph General Hospital announces New Vice President, Patient Services & Chief Nursing Executive

Guelph, ON - Sept 5, 2024

Guelph General Hospital (GGH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrea Lucas, Registered Nurse and Certified Health Executive, as its new Vice President, Patient Services and Chief Nursing Executive (CNE), effective November 11, 2024.

Lucas brings to GGH over 20 years of experience in the health care sector, with the last nine as a senior executive. She has a wealth of clinical leadership experience ranging from palliative care to health information technology, mental health, and community services.

Joining the GGH team from North Bay Regional Health Centre, Lucas most recently served as the Vice President, Mental Health and Addictions. In this role, she was responsible for supporting system level planning and delivery by creating sustainable partnerships at a local, regional, and provincial level.

Graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from York University in 2005, Lucas earned her Masters of Health Studies from Athabasca University in 2014. She also received a Certified Health Executive designation from the Canadian College of Health Leaders in 2018.

“Andrea was selected among many qualified candidates by a multidisciplinary hiring committee, as her warmth and extensive experience stood out to us. She will be instrumental in leading, inspiring, and supporting our clinical teams as well as play a key role in our planning and decision making,” shared Mark Walton, President & CEO at GGH. 

Lucas’s has a passion for interprofessional practice, advancing quality, and fostering collaboration which will be of great value to the hospital as it advances its strategic plans.

We are thrilled to have her join our team and participate on our Medical Advisory Committee,” shared Dr. Alex Ferguson, Chief of Staff at GGH.
