About BGC Canada (formerly Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada)

Vision

All children and youth discover and achieve their dreams and grow up to be healthy, successful, and active participants in society.

Mission

To provide safe, supportive places where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships, and develop confidence and skills for life.

Overview

Boys and Girls Clubs are celebrating 122 years of outstanding service to Canadians. Founded at the turn of the last century, BGC Canada is the largest child- and youth-focused organization, with more than 700 service locations across the country providing crucial services to over 200,000 children each year.

The nearly 6,000 dedicated staff at our 96 Clubs welcome children and youth from every background and income. BGC Canada is especially there for those who need the organization the most by providing a safe, welcoming place during vital out-of-school hours and ensuring that the children and youth who enter its doors receive the learning and mentoring experiences they need to grow into happy, responsible, and productive citizens.

Programs

Tailored to the needs of communities across the country, BCG Canada's national programs tackle relevant social issues, encourage and empower children and youth, and help them set a path for success. Find out more about these programs here.

Advocacy

One of the main mandates for BGC Canada is to advocate for children and youth. For BGC Canada, advocacy means amplifying youth voices, standing up for children and their families, and actively pushing decision makers towards a more inclusive and equitable Canada. BCG Canada's strong working relationships with all levels of government enable the organization to sustain and expand the vital work of its Clubs, giving young people across the country a platform, and ensure action is taken.
