Founded in 1913, the Edmonton Public Library (EPL) has evolved into one of Canada’s most dynamic and community-embedded urban library systems.

After consultations with stakeholders, the following opportunities and challenges were identified for this role.

The Edmonton Public Library (EPL) is the central public library system serving Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Located in central Alberta along the North Saskatchewan River, Edmonton is the capital city of the province and serves as a major economic and cultural hub for the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational performance of the Edmonton Public Library.

The following qualifications, characteristics, experience, approach and personal qualities are seen to be highly desirable.

Along with proven industry expertise in energy, engineering, and construction, he has also demonstrated the ability to recruit the highest-caliber leaders across a range of industries, disciplines, and regions.
