Priority Criteria

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of related management experience developing and implementing supply chain systems and strategies for an urban commercial port complex, an organization with similar supply chain dynamics, or as a supply chain consulting delivery professional. Experience implementing digital and data technologies is important. 

Leadership: An effective change leader and influencer who demonstrates excellent leadership qualities and management skills. A team player who can effectively work at all levels of the organization, with an ability to influence others towards consensus. Ability to drive digital transformation, and optimization projects informed by digital transformation initiatives, across the Port’s supply chain.

Digital Expertise: A forward thinking data leader. Understands the value of data and analytics and utilizes this knowledge to provide solutions and capabilities where there are opportunities to infuse data intelligence to make better business decisions. Stays ahead of technology trends as it relates to software, data products, and blockchain technologies.  

Decision-making & Planning: An innovator who thinks in future terms. Strong situational analysis. Diligent and effective decision-making, planning and initiative, while fostering the development all of these competencies in VFPA emerging leaders. Understands and develops the organization’s capacity for change and translates it effectively into the internal processes, structure and systems.

Communication: Strong verbal, written and visualization skills. An engaging communicator with excellent public speaking capabilities. Ability to effectively interface with all contacts, including all levels of business, government and the public to communicate VFPA’s business strategy. Can represent VFPA as a dynamic organization prepared to seize opportunities as a world-class port.

Relationship Skills: A track record of establishing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Internally, collaborates and confidently navigates a complex organization. Can convey information needs to IT and data constraint to the business. Motivates and engages emerging leaders across the organization. Externally, is a credible and effective representative of the organization. Supports efforts to increase data literacy in the gateway and enable collaboration with interested stakeholders. Demonstrates strong customer service orientation while managing a breadth of responsibilities.

Business Architect: Is a practitioner of business architecture and acts as a ‘bridge’ between business and technology. Interprets and contextualizes strategy for operational needs, develops specific artifacts such as business capability maps and value streams to help bridge the gap between strategy and execution, and helps streamline and rationalize the technology enablement process.

Education: A related university degree, ideally a combined with a graduate level business degree.

Style: Confident, calm, supportive, ethical, customer service-oriented and assertive. Has strength of character and integrity. Articulates and lives VFPA values. High standards and is very focused on achieving results. Ability to travel.
