The Client
Boyden's client is a leading French pharmacy services platform helping independent pharmacists adapt to the rapid transformation of healthcare. Operating at the intersection of healthcare, retail, and digital innovation, the company is redefining the pharmacist's role through new healthcare services, digital capabilities, and value-added commercial solutions.
Following its acquisition by a leading private equity investor, the company embarked on an ambitious transformation to become a European HealthTech platform.
The Challenge
The investment thesis called for the business to accelerate international expansion, evolve from a traditional purchasing model to a technology-enabled platform, and create new high-value revenue streams through services, data, and strategic partnerships.
Delivering that strategy required capabilities that did not exist within the existing leadership team. Rather than simply strengthening the traditional sales function, the Board created the company's first Chief Revenue Officer role, with responsibility for building an integrated revenue strategy spanning commercial operations, partnerships, offer management, and monetization.
The leadership profile was equally distinctive. The company needed an executive with deep healthcare expertise and the experience to help scale a private equity-backed business, combining strategic vision and entrepreneurial drive with the operational discipline required in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
There was another challenge: convincing a senior executive from a large global pharmaceutical or healthcare organization to leave the structure and scale of a corporate environment for a newly created role at the centre of a PE-backed transformation.
The Solution
Boyden partnered closely with the CEO and shareholders to define the leadership profile required for this next phase of the business.
We assembled a partner-led team combining deep healthcare sector expertise with extensive experience recruiting Chief Revenue Officers for high-growth companies. The search reached across both the healthcare and private equity ecosystems, providing access to a highly selective pool of senior commercial leaders.
Beyond commercial credentials, candidates were assessed for their ability to lead transformation: to help reshape the revenue model, operate entrepreneurially, and translate strategy into execution while navigating the demands of a PE-backed growth environment.
The Results
Boyden appointed a senior healthcare executive from a €5 billion international healthcare group, where she reported directly to the French President.
Her experience brought the leadership maturity and transformational capabilities required for the newly created role, positioning her to become both the company's first Chief Revenue Officer and a strategic partner to the CEO.
The Impact
The appointment added the leadership capability required to support the company's transformation.
With its first Chief Revenue Officer in place, the business has dedicated leadership spanning commercial operations, partnerships, offer management, and monetization as it works to evolve from a traditional purchasing model into a European HealthTech platform.
