Saskatoon, SK - July 8, 2026

Note to SMA members from Dr. Carla Holinaty, SMA president:

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Marcel Nobert as the next Chief Executive Officer of the Saskatchewan Medical Association (SMA).

Following a comprehensive national search supported by Boyden, a global executive search firm, the board unanimously selected Marcel to lead the association into its next chapter. His appointment reflects a combination of proven leadership, strategic vision, and in-depth understanding of the SMA, Saskatchewan’s health care system, and the needs of our physician members.

During his many years with the SMA, Marcel has played a key role in advancing the SMA’s work, building strong relationships with physicians, governments, health system partners, and staff, and helping to shape initiatives that support the profession. His experience, collaborative leadership style, and commitment to serving members position him well to lead the organization through the opportunities and challenges ahead.

Marcel completed his Bachelor of Commerce in Finance at the University of Saskatchewan and holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Victoria. Prior to joining the SMA’s senior leadership team more than a decade ago, he held several leadership roles with the Saskatoon Health Region, including Director of Medical Affairs and Acting Vice President of Finance and Corporate Services.

As CEO, Marcel will work closely with the board, physician leaders, staff, and partners to strengthen the SMA’s advocacy, enhance member services, and continue advancing the SMA’s mission on behalf of Saskatchewan physicians.

Please join the board in congratulating Marcel on his appointment. We look forward to working together as we continue building a strong and effective association for Saskatchewan’s physicians.
