President & CEO
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides visionary, strategic, and operational leadership to the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation (OSMHF). The CEO is accountable for advancing a bold philanthropic strategy that ensures sustainable financial support for Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH).
Working in close partnership with the Foundation Board of Directors and the President & CEO of OSMH, the CEO drives fundraising growth, strengthens donor and community engagement, builds organizational capacity, and positions the Foundation as a leading healthcare philanthropy organization.
Key Accountabilities
Strategic Leadership & Governance Stewardship
- Develop and execute a multi-year strategic plan aligned with hospital priorities and approved by the Foundation Board.
- Partner closely with the OSMH President & CEO to align philanthropic priorities with the Hospital’s capital, equipment, programmatic, redevelopment and strategic needs.
- Advise and support the Board in governance excellence, strategy oversight, and investment stewardship.
- Provide transparent reporting on performance, risk, financial results, and fundraising outcomes.
Fund Development & Campaign Leadership
- Lead a comprehensive, integrated fundraising strategy encompassing major gifts, capital campaigns, planned giving, corporate partnerships, annual giving, digital engagement, and community fundraising.
- Establish ambitious yet achievable fundraising targets and performance metrics.
- Personally lead cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of principal and transformational donors.
- Design and execute significant capital campaigns, including campaign planning, case development, volunteer leadership engagement, and donor strategy.
- Ensure a best-in-class donor experience grounded in impact reporting, stewardship, and relationship management.
Community Engagement & External Relations
- Serve as chief ambassador and spokesperson for the Foundation.
- Strengthen the Foundation’s visibility and reputation within the community and healthcare sector.
- Build strategic partnerships with donors, corporations, community leaders, and key stakeholders.
- Advance a compelling communications strategy that clearly articulates impact and strengthens brand awareness.
Financial & Operational Stewardship
- Oversee development and management of the Foundation’s annual operating and campaign budgets.
- Ensure strong financial controls, prudent resource allocation, and long-term sustainability.
- Provide strategic input into investment and endowment management.
- Leverage data, analytics, and fundraising technology to enhance performance and decision-making.
Organizational Leadership & Culture Building
- Build and lead a high-performing, accountable, and mission-driven team.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, develop, and retain top fundraising talent.
- Establish clear goals, performance expectations, and professional development pathways for staff.
- Champion adoption of emerging fundraising trends, digital tools, and donor engagement strategies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Undergraduate degree in business, finance, commerce, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- CFRE designation preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive fundraising leadership experience, ideally within a hospital foundation or complex healthcare environment.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role with direct team management responsibility.
- Demonstrated success leading major gift strategies and large-scale capital campaigns.
- Proven track record of achieving ambitious revenue growth targets across diverse fundraising streams.
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep expertise in healthcare philanthropy, including major gifts, planned giving, endowments, annual giving, and corporate sponsorship.
- Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong financial acumen and experience overseeing budgets and investment strategies.
- Experience leveraging CRM systems and fundraising technology platforms (e.g., Raiser’s Edge NXT).
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and data-informed decision-making capabilities.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
