The Client

Our client is a multinational pharmaceutical company specialising in the marketing and manufacturing of post-patent and branded pharmaceuticals. With a workforce of over 9,000 employees, the organization operates in more than 50 countries across multiple global regions, requiring strong and coordinated leadership at both regional and country levels.

The Challenge

Following a significant M&A transaction, the client sought to leverage the diversity of leadership profiles across its newly expanded organization and accelerate the development of team synergy. With 60 leaders drawn from 9 global regional teams now operating under a unified structure, the primary challenge was translating individual leadership capability into collective, high-performing team dynamics — while maintaining operational continuity across geographies.

The Solution

Boyden implemented a psychometric tool to map each leader's individual preferences across motivation, decision-making style, and business-cycle alignment, followed by tailored individual feedback sessions to strengthen self-awareness. A High-Performing Team Session was facilitated with the Regional CEOs to surface how profile diversity could be leveraged to raise team performance and address existing friction points. Boyden conducted one-on-one meetings with each Regional CEO to review their team's profile before cascading the process to each regional team. High-Performing Team Sessions were then held across all nine regional teams, with tailored action plans developed for each. At the organizational level, Boyden identified leadership patterns and advised the CEO on talent allocation across business cycle phases, mobility strategy, and future recruitment priorities.

The Results

The engagement covered 9 Regional Leaders and 50 Country Leaders. Deliverables included individual leadership preference profiles, business cycle alignment analysis, a diversity and blind spot assessment at both team and organizational levels, and an ongoing board follow-up action plan for high performance.

The Impact

Boyden transformed a complex, post-acquisition leadership landscape into a structured, insight-led framework — enabling the organization to activate the strategic value of leadership diversity and build sustained high performance across global teams.
