We are pleased to share that Dave McCaig has been appointed as Unity Health Toronto’s new Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer. He will begin in the role on November 16.
Dave joins Unity Health with more than 30 years of leadership experience across both the healthcare and private sectors. Most recently, he has served at the Toronto Police Service, leading strategic transformation projects and providing interim executive leadership for the Corporate Services Command, overseeing the finance and people and culture functions.
Before joining Toronto Police Service, Dave held senior executive and CFO roles at some of Ontario’s largest healthcare organizations. For a decade, he served as Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Chief Financial Officer at Hamilton Health Sciences, leading a broad portfolio that included finance, information technology, human resources, capital development and support services. Earlier in his career, he also served as Chief Financial Officer at William Osler Health System.
Throughout his career, Dave has built a reputation as a collaborative and authentic leader who brings people together to drive meaningful change, strengthen organizational performance and support the delivery of exceptional care.
His experience includes leading major digital and operational transformations, overseeing complex capital and infrastructure projects, strengthening financial sustainability, and helping organizations navigate periods of significant growth and change. He has also played an influential role in advancing health system priorities at the provincial level, working with government and sector partners to shape funding, capacity planning and system transformation initiatives.
His ability to pair strong financial stewardship with strategic leadership and system thinking will help position us well as we advance our new strategic plan and continue to serve patients, residents, clients and communities across Unity Health.
