Indigenous Inclusion

Our individual journeys, like any learning (or unlearning and relearning) journey, have each been different. For many years our worldviews, and as a result our processes and practices, would have been Eurocentric, with little appreciation for or acknowledgment of Indigenous history, or of the contemporary resilience of Indigenous peoples today.

Fortunately, our journey, which has included meeting with Elders and visiting several First Nations communities, is teaching us that the process of Indigenization, Reconciliation and Decolonization is not just an exercise of checking boxes, making land acknowledgments, or writing policies. It is much more than that. 

From a recruiting perspective, we have transformed our thinking and reframed our processes, which are now much more inclusive, less biased, and open to and respectful of diverse approaches and perspectives.
